We are excited to share an opportunity for collaboration on our project titled “Solidarity and Social Innovation in Romania” under the Om Bun ASSOC Program.

About Our Project

  • Location: Baia Mare, Romania
  • Objective: To foster community development by implementing social workshops and events, alongside various educational, cultural, and social activities.

About ASSOC

ASSOC is a Romanian organization that has been a cornerstone in providing social services for over 20 years. Our mission is to offer complex social services tailored to the specific needs of groups experiencing temporary or long-term dysfunctions. We have a strong commitment to supporting vulnerable populations, including people with disabilities, children, and families in need.

We offer a variety of impactful activities for volunteers, including:

  • Social Services:
    • Support day-to-day activities at centers like the Pinocchio Rehabilitation Center.
    • Participate in community outreach via mobile units.
    • Conduct life skills, vocational training, and personal development workshops.
  • Education and Inclusion:
    • Assist with after-school programs for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
    • Organize cultural exchange events to promote multiculturalism and tolerance.
    • Teach or assist in language classes.
  • Health and Well-being:
    • Support health education campaigns focused on hygiene, nutrition, and preventive care.
    • Assist with rehabilitation exercises and therapy sessions for individuals with disabilities.
  • Social Enterprises:
    • Contribute to vocational training at our social enterprises, such as handmade tailoring and catering services.
    • Engage in community garden projects or environmental clean-up activities.

Volunteer Support

We ensure a supportive environment for our volunteers, offering:

  • Accommodation in Baia Mare or other project locations.
  • Meals through ASSOC’s social restaurants or catering services.
  • Training in language, cultural integration, and relevant project skills.
  • Mentorship from a dedicated mentor for personal and professional guidance.

Impact

This project aims to enhance the quality of life for vulnerable groups while promoting social cohesion. Volunteers will gain invaluable experience in social work, improve cross-cultural communication skills, and contribute to a stronger sense of European solidarity.

Application Process

Volunteers interested in joining us can apply through the European Solidarity Corps portal or by sending an email to Andreea Sasaran, the coordinator of ASSOC’s volunteering department: andreea.sasaran@assoc.ro.

We encourage applicants to prepare a motivation letter, CV, and participate in an interview to ensure a good match for the project.

We believe that volunteers could make a significant impact within our community, and we would be thrilled to explore this collaboration further. For more details or to discuss the next steps.

Thank you for considering this opportunity. We look forward to hearing from you!
