On May 24th, we celebrate European Day of Parks โ€“ a day created by the EUROPARC Federation to commemorate the establishment of the first national parks in Europe back in 1909 in Sweden. It’s a time to celebrate nature and raise awareness of the importance of protecting our natural treasures.

๐Ÿž๏ธ Across Europe, national parks protect breathtaking landscapes and rare species. Just take a look at some examples:

๐ŸŒ„ Triglav National Park (Slovenia) โ€“ Preserves alpine ecosystems, glacial valleys, and traditional mountain villages.

๐ŸŒฒ Biaล‚owieลผa National Park (Poland) โ€“ Protects Europeโ€™s last primeval forest and the majestic European bison.

โ›ฐ๏ธ ร‰crins National Park (France) โ€“ Home to glaciers, dramatic peaks, and hundreds of protected plant and animal species.

๐Ÿฆ‰ Doรฑana National Park (Spain) โ€“ A crucial sanctuary for migratory birds and endangered species like the Iberian lynx.

๐ŸŒธ Troodos National Forest Park (Cyprus) โ€“ Features ancient pine forests, rare orchids, and unique mountain geology.

๐Ÿ‘ต๐Ÿ‘ด These countries are also our partners in the Ageingreen project, where we work together to empower seniors to take action for the environment. Through workshops, field activities, and community initiatives, older adults are proving that it’s never too late to make a difference.

๐ŸŒ Nature belongs to all of us and we all have the power to protect it.
